The History of the Stratmore Rose Tiara
The Strathmore Rose Tiara is a floral tiara that was gifted to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon by her parents upon her marriage to the Duke of York in 1923 12. The tiara was purchased from Catchpole and Williams, a dealer based in London, and was made in England in the late 19th century 23. The tiara is named after the Queen Mother’s family, the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne 2.
The tiara features large flowers that can be removed and worn as brooches. The flowers were originally set with five collet-set sapphires, which could be swapped out 2.
